I cannot believe that December came and went. The LEAN month of ChaLEAN was SO FUN. I’ve always enjoyed free weights but I don’t know that I have ever specifically called it fun! I really got a kick out of the use of legs and arms or crunches at the same time, and I can’t believe 4 weeks passed as fast as it did… Let alone the entire 90 day program.

I am just absolutely grateful that I chanced across Turbo Jam and ChaLEAN Extreme. I feel like I have found the gates to fulfillment I have always longed for. Sounds really deep, doesn’t it? When I first started working out to Turbo Jam and heard the company’s name, “BeachBody” I scoffed. That’s right, I admit it! I thought it was tacky.. but here I am, done with 90 days of ChaLEAN Extreme and headed into 60 days of INSANITY.  In just three months and less than an hour a day 5 days a week I lost 21.5″ all over and the side-by-side results speak for themselves, and I get it: For the first time in my life I feel like I now have the tools I need for my very own beach body, that come summertime I will be in such great shape I can comfortably take the boys to Hurricane Harbor or the beach wearing a two-piece and feel no shame! When Chris and I venture out to the Bahamas or Florida I don’t have to carefully pick out my outfits or hide behind a one-piece.

This is all very exciting.

SO. Without further ado I present my 90 day before and after, as well as the stats from day 1, 30, 60, 90.

In the end I lost 21.5″ all over, biggest difference was 4.5″ from my waist. I gained .1 pound in the end which as you can tell meant I lost plenty of fat and gained muscle mass. Unfortunately neither body fat calculating device I have properly reflects this, which is annoying since the proof is in the pictures!

Progress Notes: You can see some changes in the pictures, but they don’t do justice to what I see everyday in definition in my abdominals, legs, arms, etc! You can see there’s more definition to my arms, you can see more definition in my inner thigh. You can actually tell my upper legs are thinner and can see more *cough* butt cheek through the middle. Also, my butt is looking tighter/lifted. At the hips you can see they are smoothing out — rather than the muffin/tire effect above the pantyline. No idea what happened with my hair :P

Progress Notes: I wasn’t very impressed with these pictures, I didn’t see much difference but there were some changes based on measurements compared to 30 days, especially in the waist!

Progress Notes: Hurray! I am very happy with the end results. I think that I could have had even more changes by restricting my diet, but I mostly counted calories. However, seeing Day 1 side by side with Day 90 I was blown away!

    My site is hosted on my own webserver space running WordPress. The software itself is free, but I do have to pay for hosting and the domain.

    You can create your own blog at http://wordpress.com and give it a try. They have some decent themes available there, and perhaps if you like it you can setup something like I have and I’d be more than happy to help you get started in the right direction! Let me know!

    Wow! You look amazing! I’m going to start CE tomorrow and I’m hoping to see great results. I have a wedding to attend to in late August and hope to lose at least 50 lbs. by then. I think I’m going to incorporate walking and Turbo Jam with it, maybe alternate each day along with healthy eating. If you have any tips or advise please send me an email. Thanks!     Great job!!! You look great. I just ordered chalene extreme. I hope I can stick to the 90 days. I have almost everything from beachbody and have not been able to finish a program yet. I did almost finish Turbo jam but stopped a few days before I was suppost to. Keep up the great work.

    Hi there! I just got the CE in the mail yesterday and I was reading through the guidebook and it was slightly intimidating!
    My brother’s wedding is in 3 months and I hope to fly home to Manila and just shock everyone with my post CE body… hehe…

    I would appreciate it if I could ask you questions as I get into it? I hope to get cracking on it tomorrow (Sunday, 8th of May).

    Hi Kristine, you’ve picked a good time to start then, because you will be AMAZED by your body in three months! Do not let the book intimidate you! Two important keys to success: Count your calories and press play everyday. That’s it! I ate about 1600 calories per day (5’4″ 136 lbs.) and ate extra protein wherever i could because I am building muscle with these circuit workouts! Any time you have large portions of food (I tended to eat out often) I would always ask for a take out box right away, and just put half of it away — now I have something to eat later and I save money on my next meal :)

    I was shocked when I hit the end of month three, because not only did I feel like I was eating ALL the time because I was so hungry, but it wasn’t until I truly saw the changes in my side-by-side pictures.

    You don’t have to have Shakeology, however it helped me because not only was it an easy, low calories way to make breakfast for only $3/meal (coach price), but it also fulfilled my chocolate cravings and the nutrients it’s packed with made my body feel fulfilled, thus I didn’t crave other bad foods.

    So keep a journal about what you’re eating, you can click the link on my links bar for the calories calculator for your body size (age, weight, height) for how many calories you should be eating… and start counting. I’d recommend eating about as much protein per meal as carbs if not more where possible (for example most of my meals work out to 25-30g protein, 25-30g carbs, < 10g fat)

    Cebu? That’s pretty cool! I’ve never been there but I have heard it’s beautiful! I actually lived most of my life in Bahrain (near Saudi Arabia) and I go home to Manila once a year to visit family and yeah, this year is going to be one very important trip home… I just dont want to be the “fat sister” in the wedding pictures. Haha.

    I also eat out often and I love this idea of asking for a take out box right away! Definitely something I could and should do.

    Btw, I loove your before and after pics. I’ve saved a few of the ladies from the chaLean page from Beachbody and yours on my BB so that I can keep looking at it to remind myself that I CAN DO IT TOO!!! (I know. I’m desperate. Haha) The wedding will be in 4 months but I will be home 3 weeks before that and I just want to WOWshock everyone when I walk outtta that airport. Hehe.

    I’m so glad to see all the changes you have made to your body. You have also given me the motivation to keep going foward; I’m currently on my 2nd month of Insanity and although I haven’t lost any weight according to the scale, I can definately see the changes in my body. I’m going to buy CE and start right after I’m done with Insanity!
    I hear how important nutrition is and although I do try to eat healthy, I still have some concerns. I have tried eating several small, healthy meals throughout the day as the Insanity program recommends. However, I couldn’t keep up and I feel better having my 2 usual meals. I do drink plenty of water and I really don’t feel I have the need to eat constantly. Do you think this could affect me in the long run? Any advice for me?

    Hi Julie, your results are nothing short of amazing. I have Chalean Extreme and recently got Turbo Jam. Now doing week 2 of Chalean so am in the Burn Phase. Love it so far. Want to lose my last 20 pounds and flabby stomach, which by the way is driving me nuts. So, a bit of history….quit smoking approx 9 months ago and started working out with WII Fit Plus so I would not gain weight and then moved on to Tae Bo (several different workouts),,,,,,started at 219 pounds….so far have lost 30 pounds, down to 189 and 24 inches all over. Heard about Chalean and here I am. So my question to you is do you have any tips on how I can combine CE and TJ together to rid myself of the last 20 pounds and flabby tummy…..appreciate all your input…..thanks.

  17. Hi Julie! I am just blown away by your website and your enthusiasm! I am currently doing Insanity myself (though, 3x a week instead of 6, since I am a runner as well), and I have p90x lined up for after that ;). PLUS I am really excited about Chalean extreme and turbojam, and have you heard about AbRev (also by beachbody if I’m correct?). Anyway, I write reviews as well on my website and I would like to link my readers to your page as well, if that’s ok?

    with that said I also have one question which I hope you could give some insight in. if not, no biggie ;). I recently bought a host and domain, and subscribed to worpress. I got as far as downloading the package, editing the wordpress file, uploading all my files to my host/server. now all I’d have to do is run the install script, but it doesn’t work! of course I’ve searched all the troubleshooting and forums forever but I can’t seem to find the fault or solution.

    Hi!your pictures are inspiring! Congrats and keep it up! I am going on the 4th week of chalean extreme, although I see definition in my arms and shoulders, am getting scared cause I also see my thighs bulking up. did you experience that also? I do pilates for legs on rest days, hoping to counteract the bulk. Although been good with the exercise, been bad with diet this week, too much food!!!lol! will do better today.God bless!

      Thank you, May! Have you measured your legs to see if they are infact becoming bigger (bulking) or is it the change in shape? Generally speaking, women do not bulk up because unlike men we lack the level of testosterone that causes them to “bulk”. Alternatively, if your muscle is growing and let’s say the fat on your legs is the FIRST place weight gain goes, it is also the last place to leave. It IS a challenge not to overeat as your appetite starts growing… just make sure you’re counting the calories till it is on track, if you think you’ve hit your daily limit, consider some cardio to make up the difference!

      If you feel you have enough energy! But remember you ONLY want a 500 calories deficit, do not exceed that for long periods of time or you will slow down your progress — believe me! Been there done it!

    Hi: I am into my fourth week of the burn phase. Like the videos and like Chalean. Will take my measurements again at the end of this week, but do feel like my clothes are a little looser. However, not losing any weight–can only hope this is due to muscle gain. Did you find this to be true? Other reviews I have read said that you really have to wait to the lean phase to see a difference.

    I see a difference on waist but thats about it. You didnt loose any weight. you are stuck at 135lbs still. I was going to buy it but i dont think this will make you loose weight. Your supposed to do Weights then cardio every day. Than take a day off. I am 127/128 now. i was 131lbs. Im trying to get down to 110lbs. im 5’0 ft even. i have a tiny frame/petite.

      Hi Natakue! Please read all the measurements — they tell a better story than 2-dimensional pictures. Muscle if very dense, which means as you gain muscle (which also means your body will burn more calories throughout the day) your body shrinks. Fat on the otherhand, takes up more space… In a program like Chalean Extreme, you’re gaining weight in muscle, but losing weight in fat. We are raised in a world where everyone looks at the number on the scale, but that number alone is very deceiving. I’d rather weight more because of muscle, and be able to burn 2600 calories a day, than be 110 pounds burning barely 1400 calories.
